Over the summer I had the opportunity to design for Blue Sky Alpacas, makers of extraordinary luxury yarns. I designed the
Zelda Wrap, part of a new 20's themed accessory collection to showcase
metalico, an extremely lovely and soft alpaca and silk blend with a metallic sheen.
The wrap is knit on the bias and works up so nicely in metalico, which gives it a wonderful drape and hand.
Here is Blue Sky's description:
This textural and glamorous wrap cascades over your shoulders, giving the luminary appearance of liquid metal. A piece that embodies both fine taste and warmth, then combines them with a soupçon of mystery.
There are two other patterns in this lovely collection: a crocheted wrap and a dramatic colorblock wrap. Each pattern is printed in an unusual fold-away, pocket-sized format.
You can see a video
here at the Blue Sky Alpacas blog showcasing the pattern format.
There seems to be a lot of interest in the Roaring Twenties these days, from Downton Abbey to the new Gatsby movie. The first season of Downton Abbey was actually one of the inspirations for my New Lines shawl collection. If you're also a fan of the show, check out the
DA KAL hosted by Shannon of luvinthemommyhood. There are lots of cool prizes to win, including a copy of New Lines!
Love Metalico - it's a gorgeous yarn in natural colors (I chose Platinum) with such a beautiful sheen from the silk! Your designs are so pretty!
